Amy’s advice for aspiring makeup artists, “Never stop working hard at what you are passionate about” just happens to mirror her own experiences. As founder of the Chic Studios brand, Amy started working on the concept in 2005, after working as a freelance makeup artist, and entrepreneur. She self-launched the first Chic Studios in Canada, in 2006, and at the time, this was the first of its kind; a fashion-forward, beauty inspired studios, which offered full service beauty treatments and makeup artistry workshops.

As Amy worked on developing the brand, and the business, she realized that the Makeup industry was growing and several clients were asking for consultations and lessons on how to become makeup artists themselves, so Amy began writing a curriculum, with other influential artists input, to accommodate those needs of aspiring artists.

After many trips, and being apart of amazing opportunities, such as Fashion Week around the globe, makeup application on some of the world’s most beautiful super models, and Fashion Campaigns, Amy found great inspiration in New York City. In 2009, opened the doors for Chic Studios NYC – Studio of Makeup Artistry. Chic Studios has 1 location currently, and is located in gorgeous NYC, in the beautiful and serene environment of DUMBO, Brooklyn.

With over ten years experience as a business owner, and makeup artist, Amy admits that this industry is one that you always need to keep up with, growing and developing yourself as a professional artist and credible individual.

“Working, when you love what you do never feels like work,” she proclaims. She isinsistent that students should, “Love what you do!”
